Overwhelmed? Anxious? Stressed? Insomnia? Migraine? Tension? Tightness? Short tempered? It's likely your nervous system is in fight or flight mode and that's not a good place to operate from. In this state all bodily systems are compromised including immunity, digestion, cellular repair, energy production and the ability to connect and relate to others.
We can calm things down and restore some autonomic balance with this work.
Think back to a time when you felt truly at ease, relaxed, soft, safe, connected... our goal is to create an experience where the body can really let go.
Safe presence, attuned breathing, empathy, gentle touch and precise movements create a sense of safety which enables the release of restrictions in the connective tissues of the cranium, spinal column, and the body as a whole.
The effect of this is multi-systemic and just feels better.
A treatment is 1 hr and can include some dialogue but, one big plus of this treatment is that we can unwind stress and trauma non-verbally.
I will ask for some background information, what brings you to the work and if there is anything specific going on (pain/anxiety etc.). Then we start manual contact on the table, often but not restricted to the head. I will be attempting to draw your attention to any movements and changes that occur within your inner space. (physiology-emotions-feeling-thinking).
Being present to this interplay of changes is a way to process stress and life experiences and generate a greater sense of capacity, balance and space.
It's possible (but not necessary) for you to feel changes take place internally and for there to be physical movements expressed as your nervous system auto corrects and tension works itself out.
My opinion is that Nervous system regulation is the most important life skill you can learn, If you're not well regulated then it's likely you're getting in all sorts of trouble
Work, relationships, fertility, motivation, confidence, growth, metabolism, family, health, intimacy, sexuality, success, happiness... everything involves the Nervous system
Your ability to handle stress
Your ability to move forward in life
Your ability to connect with a lover
Your ability to be confident and secure in yourself
Your ability to connect socially and network
Your ability to make clear decisions
Your ability to heal from illness and trauma
All this depends on your Nervous system

Cranial work targets the root cause of many problems, the physiological threat response that is unnecessarily triggered and in a state of acute and/or chronic activation. aka STRESS
HOW?
This type of manual contact targets a specific system of the physiology called the hypothalamus-pituitary complex (H-P-C). The aim is to restore healthy functioning of this complex by releasing restrictions in the connective tissues and bones that surround these brain structures and to allow for the natural brain function.
Imagine the level of precision that would be needed to adjust the internal mechanism of a fine wrist watch and you will have an idea of the contact involved.
WHY?
Because this complex is involved with the most important and vital autonomic functions of your body (Growth, metabolism, reproduction, response to stress or trauma, hydration and child birth).
When we influence the H-P-C, we influence every other bodily process and open the door for higher physiological, emotional, cognitive and behavioural functioning
Correct contact can result in therapeutic changes in the clients NS such as; deeper states of rest, thawing of the freeze response, discharge of the fight or flight energy, reduction of pain and tension, emotional balance, increased capacity for social engagement and an overall movement towards a positive, healthy and happy life.
Regulation and recovery is about awareness and small consistent behavioural adjustments over time that increase your stress resilience, power and pro social capacities (see vagal tone)
Let me be clear, Healing your nervous system is a journey and there are no quick fixes. Sorry to disappoint you.
Your journey will depend on a number of factors such as ;
How your system can currently manages stress
The types of symptoms you are presenting
The length of time you have been experiencing difficulty (chronic or acute)
Your trauma history
Your social network
Your willingness to implement positive lifestyle changes and remove toxic/negative behaviours
We start to regulate behaviour by learning to perform a "current state analysis" of the level of activation present in your nervous system and deciding to take actions towards stabilisation, safety and connection when necessary as well as growth and novelty when appropriate.
I see the nervous system a bit like a wild horse. It is incredibly powerful and has the capacity to drive massive change in the world. My job is to teach you how to ride it!
